Web research gets unreliable when your agent can’t show where an answer came from. Web Search Plus is a Hermes plugin for builders who want web search and page reading with source links. It helps you research current topics from real pages by routing search and extraction through configured providers, then returning original links and clean page content. Key features: • Two Hermes tools – adds web_search_plus for source discovery and web_extract_plus for reading existing URLs • Multi-provider setup – supports search and extraction providers while working with just one configured provider • Provider fallback – can try another service when one is unavailable or returns nothing • Clean page reading – turns pages you already have into clean text for an agent • Optional local choices – SearXNG, Keenable, and the separately installed DonSeTch provider can reduce dependence on paid APIs It’s open-source (MIT license). 🔗 GitHub: https://lnkd.in/dWGm2fXg

Web research becomes unreliable when your agent can't show where an answer came from.

Web Search Plus is an open-source (MIT-licensed) Hermes plugin built for exactly that problem — giving agents web search and page reading that always returns real, traceable source links rather than synthesized answers.

It adds two tools to Hermes: web_search_plus for source discovery, and web_extract_plus for reading and cleanly extracting content from URLs the agent already has. Under the hood, it routes requests through whichever search and extraction providers you've configured — it works with just one configured provider, so you're not required to hold API keys for every service it supports, and it will automatically try another provider if the first one is unavailable or returns nothing.

For builders who want to reduce dependence on paid APIs, it also supports lower-cost or local options: SearXNG (self-hosted search), Keenable (an independent web index with a free tier), and DonSeTch, a separately installed local provider.
